Programme Delivery Divisions

The Foundation Phase Programme is designed for Grade R–3 teachers, offering a variety of learning opportunities to support your professional growth. We understand that every teacher has different schedules and learning preferences, so our courses are structured in multiple flexible formats. You can choose the learning mode that best suits your availability and style. You can choose to attend and make use of the following modalities:
- Contact Sessions - Face to Face
- Blended Learning: a combination of Face-to-Face and Online sessions
- Online - Live streams and webinars
- Online - Moodle - self-paced learning opportunities
- Hybrid: Live online sessions of Face-to-Face learning opportunities
These learning opportunities are designed around 21st-century teaching and learning approaches, emphasising the four key competencies: Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. They focus on equipping teachers with effective instructional strategies while fostering active and meaningful learning experiences for participants.
All learning opportunities are designed around the following key factors:
- Modules are tailored to meet the specific needs of teachers.
- The pacing of each module is carefully structured to support effective learning.
- Course content is designed to be relevant and applicable to teachers' specific teaching contexts.
- A variety of digital tools and applications are integrated to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ongoing communication with facilitators is maintained through WhatsApp, email, Moodle Chat, and discussion forums.
Participants must join our Learning Management System (LMS) before accessing learning opportunities to actively engage with facilitators and fellow participants, as well as collaborate on activities. Resources are also uploaded onto our LMS. Participants will learn by exploring different tools and applications that stimulate critical thinking. Our learning programmes are designed so that participants can explore creative ways to teach and learn.
All the Foundation Phase learning opportunities, modules, and topics have been allocated points. To be awarded a Professional Development certificate by the South African Council for Educators (SACE), participants are expected to meet specific criteria:
- Attend the presentations;
- Engage actively;
- Do the pre- and post-assessment for formal learning opportunities; and
- Complete the required tasks.
We recommend that more than one teacher in the Phase attends a learning opportunity. To strengthen our teachers' content knowledge and skills, we always consider what our teachers know and what they do. Therefore, we encourage the sharing of best practices in our learning opportunities. Teachers learn best from other teachers. For this reason, we have also included teachers to lead some of our professional development training topics. We value our Foundation Phase teachers and believe that Teachers Learn Better Together.
