SLIMS
EDULIS Library offers free access to both print and electronic library resources, ensuring that WCED teachers and staff can easily access materials for management, research, and curriculum support. This enables effective teaching and learning. The library uses an electronic management system powered by the SITA Library Information Management System (SLIMS), and a dedicated SLIMS Help Desk is available for assistance.
School library support
The EDULIS Library at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) offers a modern facility with a computer hub, seminar/training room, boardroom, and private study area, all with free Wi-Fi for teachers. It supports WCED schools in establishing, managing, and expanding their libraries while promoting information literacy skills. EDULIS provides the SLIMS system to selected schools and offers a helpdesk service to all schools and WCED sites that have implemented SLIMS. It also provides research and resource support to CTLI Teacher Professional Development Programmes, ensuring facilitators and teachers have access to up-to-date resources for reading programmes, library orientation, and research support. Additionally, the Mobile Library Project serves over 80 schools in four rural districts, and the Love2Read Initiative, aligned with the WCED Reading Strategy, has benefitted more than 300 educators.
