Grade 1 - 3 Departmental Head, Acting Departmental Head, Teacher, Novice Teacher
Applicants must teach in:
Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3)
General Requirements:
Teachers must teach in Grade 1,2 or 3
Recommended Course:

This course is recommended for Foundation Phase teachers (Grades 1-3) employed by the Western Cape Education Department.

Course content will be presented in the three official languages of the Western Cape. It is recommended that you attend the sessions that is presented in the LOLT of the classroom.

 

 

About this Course

This comprehensive course explores the foundational concepts of number concept development and measurement, providing teachers with a solid foundation in mathematics. Through interactive sessions, engaging activities, and real-world examples, participants will:

- Develop a deeper understanding of number concept development and measurement
- Build confidence and proficiency in their mathematical abilities
- Gain practical knowledge to support their learners' math development

 The course content will be presented in the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate understanding of the knowledge and skills required to effectively teach number concept development and measurement in the Foundation Phase.
2. Develop and apply methodologies for teaching number concept development and measurement.
3. Translate knowledge into practice, using effective teaching strategies to enhance learners' understanding and mastery of mathematics.

Certificate of Completion Requirements:

To qualify for a Certificate of Completion, teachers must meet the following criteria:

  •  Attend all scheduled sessions.
  • Sign the attendance register for each session.
  • Ensure their profile is fully registered.
  • Complete the course assessment.
  • Attend the Course Feedback Implementation Seminar.

By fulfilling these requirements, teachers can obtain their Certificate of Completion.
