About this Course

Background: The WCED Positive Behaviour Programme is a multi-pronged strategy to promote positive and restorative behaviour approaches by creating caring school cultures through educator capacity building, learner and parent intervention programmes as well as awareness programmes to highlight the programme efforts.

The new approach to positive behavioural support represents a shift from a focus on deficit and control, towards a developmental and restorative approach. This will enable learners to progress towards responsibility, relationship building and a greater sense of well-being. This approach is also embodied in the South African Constitution, the South African Schools Act and the specific outcomes of the National Curriculum Statement which give priority to the concept of responsibility.

This seminar has been designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and practical strategies to meet the differing and often challenging behavioural situations you find in your classroom.

Main session topics:

Circle of courage unpacked

  1. Mastery - what you can do and what you are capable of doing
  2. Belonging - cultivated by human bonds of relationships of trust
  3. Independence - Free will is cultivated by responsibility so that each child can say "I have the power to make decisons"
  4. Genoristy - Charcter is cultivated by concern for others so that the child can say, "I have a purpose for my life"

Step into a transformative experience where you'll gain powerful, practical tools to navigate challenging behavior with confidence and compassion. These dynamic sessions explore the Circle of Courage—a groundbreaking framework presented through four interconnected quadrants—guiding you to respond positively, build resilience, and foster meaningful change.
