This focused workshop aims to empower Grade 10 Mathematics teachers with the skills to design high-quality assessments that align with curriculum standards and support deeper learning. Over two interactive sessions, participants will explore the principles of effective assessment design, with an emphasis on cognitive demand, practical application, and alignment with assessment taxonomy.
Key focus areas include:
- Understanding and applying the cognitive levels as outlined in the Mathematics curriculum.
- Identifying the cognitive level of existing questions.
- Practical strategies on how to modify questions to shift their cognitive level and increase their rigor.
- Incorporating real-life contexts to promote mathematical thinking and relevance.
- Collaborative development of a quality Term 3 Test, ensuring balanced coverage of content and cognitive levels.
Teachers will leave the workshop with a completed assessment ready for classroom use, a deeper understanding of assessment standards, and tools to enhance their ongoing practice.
